The crop part would require decoding, and re-encoding, which would be heavy and slow especially if you're trying to retain quality.

Might as well just use OBS if you're going to manually record your screen. Then you'd be able to take advantage of changing encoder settings, or using a more optimal encoder like Nvidia's.

can confirm it works nicely, just outputs in webm similar the a plugin im currently using. I stepped away from using OBS from quite some time since its just quicker doing it my method but @Scamcast has a nice tool out there to make it dumb proof for the average turd all the user would need to do is upload it to some hosting site.

People who know how to use OBS are going to use OBS either way. It was supposed to be for the average person who doesn't clip. There is no decoding. The screen capture coordinates get set to the iframe element which is what I ment by cropping it, then saves it immediately after it's done recording. All done client side.

Why'd you scrape it then? Ran into an issue? Unless they changed it recently, it should only support fullscreen

Didnt feel like working on it more. It still works, just doesn't work in Firefox because in Firefox, screenshare only captures the mic, so you get video without audio. It doesn't actually capture the browser tabs audio like it does in Chrome. Might add it later, but it would just be for chrome users. So might not even be worth it.

I still dont see the advantages except than it being recorded in a file type that is preferred as the share type for our sites.

The advantage is clipping it on the site without opening OBS. Already working on a different clipper, so this 1 I mentioned earlier is scrapped.

Hmmm. I guess. The convenience seems kinda illusory though. But that X amount of seconds feature wpuld make it superior to OBS in terms of usability

The 1 I'm working on now works great. Can't wait to release it.
