so like all doctors/diagnoses? it's all about the money. adhd is another one that comes to mind as commonly overly diagnosed and medicated. also, lithium is usually a last resort medication and it's fairly cheap. they prefer to put you a slew of other things for bipolar, most of which are newer and actually cost a lot more so they get better kickbacks from those. it's all nothing but a racket.

i feel bi polar is over diagnosed in la so the doctors can make money from kick backs on the lithium pills to treat it
