For me it was Skyrim.

Oblivion was my favorite game as a middle/high schooler. When Skyrim was announced i was so excited. I bought it at the midnight release on a school night. I put a few hours into it that night hoping it would get better, then as the week went on i found myself playing less and less each day.

The game fucking sucked! The design looked like shit, the towns were all shit, conjuration (my favorite skill) was shit. Everything i liked about Oblivion was removed. After that my passion for gaming was killed. I dont know if it happened quick and fast during the week it was released, or if it happened slowly as i watched this awful game get nothinf but praise.

I was coping when Skyrim dropped, I had fun the first week and and grew sour on it as time went on. Was for sure the beginning of the great casualization of games, which in turn led to retards and :marseytrain:s infiltrating the gaming community claiming to be le elite epic gaymers. Fighting games are suffering from dumbing down now too, fucking SF6 forces you to play in Ranked with cute twinks using Modern controls and 1 button specials. The Gatekeeping should have never stopped.

I still feel like the dumbest cunt for buying a PS5 just to play the Demon's Souls Remake, now it just sits on my dresser collecting dust. I don't remember having to use the wifi to boot my PS5 the first time though, maybe I did.

It's really messed up not to enjoy gaming anymore. Back around 2012, I completely stopped, and it felt like every millennial kid was all about gaming culture and was like raised on gaming or internet culture. I really miss it. I'm trying to get back into gaming, but the interest just isn't there anymore. I swear I miss those times when you could dive into a game and get lost in it, like you were in a trance just doing your thing. Recently, I played Yakuza: Dead Souls for the first time and while it was a fun, easy zombie shooter for a casual play but I still can't seem to find any game that holds my attention and focus. I even forced myself to play Dragon Ball Xenoverse, but that didn't hit the spot either. I'm planning to give Final Fantasy X Remake a shot during my detox from cigarettes and alcohol, but man, it's a tough journey an not gonna lie. Im literally jealous at people who still enjoy gaming.
