I was told by my personal trainer way back in the day to shoot for 8-12 reps. Anything more than 12 and you need to add more weight, but i dont workout anymore, I just hike. I was borderline obese and had no experience working out at the time though, so take it as you will

i cant keep a workout routine, sometimes ill get an itch to start lifting again and ill do it for a month or two but keeping up with the routine is too much for me. Ive always perfered cardio tbh

I feel that, im lucky enough to be around a gym that makes lifting easy. Cardio was my brwad and butter though. Im trying to gain muscle mass so I dont get extra cardio but i get it regularly.
